History
Grand Village’s history goes back to 1896, when Itasca County officials realized the need for accommodating and supporting the long-term care needs of area residents. It was at that time that the facility, first known as the “Poor Farm”, was constructed. This marked the beginning of Grand Village’s journey to offer compassionate, efficient and economical care to the people of Itasca County and the surrounding areas.
In the years to follow, several expansions and name changes to the Hale Lake Pointe site occurred as the needs of the community grew and advances in healthcare took place. The final site expansion was in 2002, when a state of the art short-term rehabilitation unit called The Lodge was built.
